Design Ethos
Design ≠ Deception
Design with transparency.
Not deception.
We don’t sell bad ideas. Your brand and value to the world must shine through its performance, behavior, and all the things you do best. We help strategize for this. Both conceptually and visually. From communication techniques like storytelling and tone of voice, to visual world building and strategic implementation. If the core idea is bad, a glossy veneer won’t mask it. We don’t design to deceive people. This means we don’t try to make your product seem healthier or safer if it’s not.
Staying selective
We keep an open mind, but there’s several non-negotiables in our practice.
We’re selective about who we work with. Not out of ego or judgement. We simply can’t afford to spend time and energy on creating things that harm the world. We actively choose not to work with companies that cause objective harm from a human-centered and eco-centered point of view. That’s why you’ll never see us bragging about working with Coca-Cola. We choose to remain small, with big ideas, and for the people.
Aim over impulse
Let’s keep it authentic.
Too often we try to predict the unpredictable. We can undoubtedly take measures to mitigate the unwanted, the undesirable, and the uncertain. But being hyper focused on achieving a specific result, or miming someone else’s results, can lead to missed opportunities and achievements. We want you to succeed through aim over impulse. The goal is to design through lasting, custom visual and communicatory impact.

Mitigation Strategies
Several strategies can help reduce the environmental impact of graphic design
Embrace
Digital Design
Designing for digital platforms can significantly reduce the need for printing and paper waste. The production of printed materials like brochures, flyers, and business cards requires large amounts of paper and ink. The paper industry is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, being the fourth-largest industrial emitter globally. Toxic inks and chemicals used in printing can contaminate water sources and harm ecosystems, for instance.
Reduce
Waste
Graphic design produces substantial waste, including discarde outdated promotional materials. Improper disposal of these materials can lead to pollution and contribute to landfill overcrowding. Alternative packaging and low-impact solutions are always researched.
Use Sustainable
Materials
Post-Consumer Recycled Paper
Vegetable-based Inks
Biodegradable Plastics
Upcycled Materials
Minimize Energy Consumption
Digital design processes also consume a significant amount of energy. The electricity required to power computers and software contributes to carbon emissions. Data centers that store and process digital content are responsible for about 1% of global electricity use.

Ethical AI
We get it. AI is frightening. But it’s also enlightening.
Here’s how we’re adapting.
At Want Studio, we embrace the future of design by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into our creative process. As the design landscape evolves, AI enhances our capabilities and broadens our horizons.
AI offers unprecedented opportunities for innovation and efficiency. It streamlines repetitive tasks, allowing us to focus on creativity and strategy. By analyzing vast data, AI provides deeper insights into market trends and user behaviors, informing our design decisions to resonate with target audiences.
In graphic design, AI-powered tools generate ideas and automate tasks like resizing and format conversion, saving time and expanding design possibilities. In branding, AI creates cohesive, adaptive brand identities by analyzing performance and suggesting improvements, ensuring visual and strategic consistency across platforms.
AI also facilitates inclusive and accessible design through features like voice-activated tools and accessibility enhancements, catering to diverse audiences.
At Want Studio, we see AI as a collaborator that augments our creativity and expertise. By embracing AI, we deliver innovative, impactful, and forward-thinking design solutions. We commit to ethical AI use, upholding our values of inclusivity, diversity, and social consciousness. We are excited about the limitless possibilities AI brings to our creative endeavors. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
