Stem is a brief I wrote as a design teacher at Shillington School of Graphic Design. This brand represents a technology company developing advanced neural tech devices. The brief is designed in two parts:
Developing a brand identity for a startup.
Utilizing generative images in an ethical and customized way.
The photography and devices used in this project are AI generations applied to custom design (type, color, layout, visual language, etc). What you see is the culmination of rounds of text prompts based on informed moodboarding. Moodboards based on a brand concept, distilled from the appropriate audience and business positioning.
These images are then customized, color corrected, and reinterpreted through manual manipulation.
Our findings were that AI can be useful and efficient at mitigating the time spent sourcing existing forms of inspiration, and instead using language to visually concept specific human-conceived ideas. This can be purely referential.
AI can also be a solid starting point for brainstorming, sketching ideas, and creating custom assets through manual alteration.

The name Stem is a multi-layered representation of our core philosophy and vision. Firstly, it's an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, reflecting our commitment to harnessing the advancements in these fields. But the symbolism runs deeper.
Just as a stem is the main support of a plant, branching out to foster growth and nourishment, our wearable neural tech devices are designed to be an extension of the human body and mind, supporting and enhancing natural abilities. The stem is a conduit between the roots and the leaves, facilitating the flow of nutrients and energy. Similarly, our devices act as a bridge between the human brain and the digital world, fostering a symbiotic relationship where each feeds into and grows from the other.
